This scene is woven around the grown up Sita and her sisters. They are seen by Janaka and his wife, who thinks of getting them proper bridegrooms.


The sage Viswamitra initiates Rama and Lakshmana to Bala and Atibala the sacred mantras of archery and valor. Rama kills the demon Tataka.


The scene begins with a worship of Siva’s bow by Sita and her sisters. Swayam Varam, a process in which the bride herself chooses her bridegroom is proposed to be announced.

Viswamitra teaches archery to Rama and Lakshmana and asks them to protect his Yaga, the sacrifice from the demons. Maaricha, a demon is thrown off into the sea by an arrow of Rama, and Subaahu, another demon is killed.


A challenge is held for the Kings and Princes of various countries who assembled to marry Sita by stringing
Siva’s bow. Janaka becomes disappointed because no one is able to perform the task.


Ahalya turned into a stone by a curse from her husband Gauthama comes back to life at the touch of the feet of Rama.


This scene brings Rama and Lakshmana to Mythila, the palace of Sita. Viswamitra introduces them to Janaka. Rama attempts to string Siva’s bow and in the process, breaks it.


The final act includes the Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam and concludes with praise by Gods.

Haravilasam is a ballet of 14 scenes depicting the life of lord Shiva. The first half of the dance-drama describes the mythological theme of Shiva’s consort Dakshyayini and her sacrifice. The second half relates his marriage to Parvathi. Daksha - Yagna and Parvathi Kalyanam are presented in the following episodes.


The first scene reveals Narada 
determinedto curb the pride and arrogance of Daksha who is the father of Shiva’s consort, Dakshayini.


The court of Daksha. The king is surrounded by sages and courtiers. He decides to conduct a yaga without inviting Lord Shiva.


Kailas with Lord Shiva and his consort. Narada comes with the news of Daksha’s sacrificial ritual. Dakshayini decides to attend the yagna without an invitation despite the Lord’s reluctance.


This scene depicts the argument between father and daughter over the formers insulting behavior to Lord
Shiva. Unable to bear her humiliation, Dakshayini immolates herself and perishes.


Shiva becomes furious and vows to avenge his consort’s death. He destroys the yagna first and destroys Daksha himself in the end through his Shiva Thandavam.


The devas plead with Lord Shiva to restore peace on earth. They advise him to do penance by taking to TAPAS (meditation).The first half of the ballet ends with Shiva retreating to the Himalayas.
